Mostly Modern Festival, a new summer music festival, will launch in Saratoga Springs, New York in June 2018. The June 4-18 festival is founded by the husband-and-wife team of composer Robert Paterson and violinist Victoria Paterson and will comprise nine orchestral, choral, and chamber concerts by festival and guest ensembles emphasizing new and recent music, with some traditional repertoire as well. Also part of the festival will be a two-week institute with a 26-member faculty and up to 70 instrumentalists, 60 singers, 30 composers, and eight conductors. Ensembles in residence will be American Modern Ensemble as well as a choir and orchestra of participants and faculty of the institute. Guest performers will include Imani Winds, Atlantic Brass Quintet, and the Euclid Quartet. Composers will include Robert Beaser, David Del Tredici, Hannah Lash, Robert Paterson, and Stephen Cabell, who will coordinate the composition program. Detailed programming will be announced later in 2018.
