The Quad City Symphony Orchestra, based in Davenport, Iowa, has announced the selection of BRIAN BAXTER as executive director. His tenure begins on February 26, 2018. Baxter is currently chief operating officer for the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras; he has been with the organization since 2008, growing the student body from 400 to more than 600 students, leading three international tours, and overseeing program expansion including the addition of new programs and ensembles. Baxter co-founded the Chicago Composers Orchestra, serving as co-artistic director and president of its board of directors and producing eight consecutive concert seasons. At the Quad City Symphony, Michael Harring will remain as interim executive director until Baxter’s arrival and provide assistance during a transition period. Mark Russell Smith is the orchestra’s music director. Quad City Symphony serves Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa and Rock Island and Moline, Illinois. The QCSO presents twelve Masterworks Series concerts each year as well as pops and chamber performances. In addition, the QCSO serves nearly 300 young musicians and singers in grades one through twelve through the Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles.
