BOB BERNHARDT’s contract as principal pops conductor of the Grand Rapids Symphony has been extended through the 2020-21 season. Bernhardt was appointed to the position in 2015. Bernhardt has been a frequent guest conductor with leading orchestras nationwide, and has served for eleven seasons as conductor of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s “Symphony Under the Sky Festival.” Bernhardt currently is in his twenty-first season as principal pops conductor of the Louisville Orchestra, where he has filled a variety of conducting positions for 37 years. He is in his seventh season as music director emeritus and principal pops conductor of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, where he was music director for nineteen seasons.
