For its upcoming “Buffalo Sings” pops concert on April 14, the Buffalo Philharmonic is inviting area singers to audition for a chance to perform Harold Arlen’s “Over the Rainbow” with the orchestra, led by Principal Pops Conductor John Morris Russell. The contest is open to anyone who is age 14 or older and resides within a 60-mile radius of Buffalo. Video applications must be received by January 31, and up to twenty finalists will be selected on February 19 for finals in Kleinhans Music Hall’s Mary Seaton Room on March 1. The Buffalo Sings champion will be selected that night. That event will be free and open to the public. More information is available at https://bpo.org/be-the-buffalo-sings-champion/. The “Buffalo Sings” concert will take place at Kleinhans Music Hall and is part of the orchestra’s KeyBank Pops Series.
