The new Sphinx Orchestral Partners Audition program provides musicians of color with the opportunity to play an audition for a panel representing several orchestras. The auditions take place on January 31 in Detroit, MI, and orchestras wishing to become a partner must contact the Sphinx Organization by January 19 (participating musicians have already been selected). The program aims to identify musicians for invitation to auditions, pre-advancement at auditions, and/or placement on substitute-player lists. An additional aim is to align participating musicians with support as needed. The ultimate goal of this initiative is job placement for musicians of color in American orchestras.

Orchestras currently participating in the program include: Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park Music Festival, Iris Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Seattle Symphony, and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.

Orchestras interested in becoming a partner in the program and attending the auditions on January 31 may contact André Dowell, chief programming officer for the Sphinx Organization, Andre@SphinxMusic.org.
