KIT EVANS has been named interim executive director of Symphony Tacoma in Washington, as the organization conducts a search for an executive director to succeed Andy Beulow, who became executive director of the West Michigan Symphony in January. Most recently executive director of Hilltop Artists, a Tacoma nonprofit that gives public-school students experience in glassmaking, Evans has over 40 years of experience as executive director of Hilltop Artists and other organizations, including domestic violence shelters, sexual assault centers, AIDS housing, and the arts. She received an MA from Antioch Seattle and a BA from Evergreen State College. Evans has been active on boards and commissions throughout Tacoma County; is a senior fellow in the American Leadership Forum; and is a member of Tacoma’s Rotary 8. A committee of Symphony Tacoma board members, staff, musicians, and other stakeholders is conducting the search for a new executive director. Sarah Ioannides is music director of Symphony Tacoma.
