In Texas, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra has announced that Music Director Miguel Harth-Bedoya will lead a three-day Fundamentals of Orchestral Conducting Workshop in partnership with Texas Christian University. Intended for musicians of high school age and above (pre-college and college students), the workshop will present an overview of the basic elements and foundations of orchestral conducting, and will develop knowledge of score study, conducting techniques, and the duties of a professional conductor. The workshop takes place June 4 to 6, 2018 at TCU, with an application deadline of April 2. Acceptances will be announced on April 20. Musicians of all levels are welcome to apply to the workshop and may be active participants or auditors. The fee for active participants who are accepted to the program is $200 (full tuition of $600 has been reduced by sponsors), and the fee for auditors is $100 (full tuition of $200 has been reduced by sponsors).
