On March 10, more than 300 musicians from all six Santa Rosa Symphony youth orchestra ensembles will perform together in the world premiere of Heroism, a tone poem by Douglas Morton, the Santa Rosa Symphony’s principal trumpet. The combined ensembles—the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra, Preparatory Orchestra, Repertory Orchestra, Young People’s Chamber Orchestra, Simply Strings (an El Sistema-inspired program at Sheppard Accelerated Elementary), and String Orchestra Workshop—will perform in the concert at Weill Hall, Green Music Center at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park. The Santa Rosa Symphony commissioned Heroism for the occasion; the work takes its inspiration from last October’s wildfires and their effect on the local community.
