Bach in the Subways, the annual global celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach’s birthday on March 21, will mark the composer’s 333rd birthday this year with free performances from March 21 to 25. The project was launched in 2010 by cellist Dale Henderson as a solo project in New York City. It has grown to a worldwide event with musicians playing pop-up concerts in more than 150 cities in 40 countries. Bach in the Subways musicians range from professionals to amateurs, who may register to play J.S. Bach anytime, anywhere between 12 a.m. on March 21 and 11:59 p.m. on March 25 in subways and other public spaces. All performances are free. For more information visit bachinthesubways.org.
