The Massapequa Philharmonic, based in Long Island, New York, has extended DAVID BERNARD’s contract as music director until 2020. Bernard was named the orchestra’s music director in 2016, after guest-conducting there several times. Among other activities, Bernard brought his “InsideOut Concerts” concept to the orchestra, formed partnerships with local businesses and arts institutions, and partnered with Long Island’s Eglevsky Ballet for the ballet’s first Nutcracker performances with live orchestra in years. Bernard is also music director of the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony in New York City. The Massapequa Philharmonic’s next concert with Bernard, on May 6th, will include Beethoven’s Overture to the Consecration of the House and the Ninth Symphony, with the Long Island Choral Society and soloists Tamara Paselk, Julia Snowden, Raymond Storms and Martin Fisher.
