“The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has launched Culture Seeds, a new £1m small grant program which will award up to £5,000 to grassroots organizations, artists and creatives,” writes Katy Wright in last Monday’s (3/26) Rhinegold.co.uk (U.K.). “The program is aimed at communities who don’t ordinarily access grant funding, especially individuals and smaller grassroots organizations working locally. Successful applicants will receive support from City Hall and will be invited to join the Culture Seeds Network to help them make the most of their project. The Mayor has also published his draft culture strategy, Culture for All Londoners, which includes details of new projects and initiatives already underway in the capital including London Borough of Culture and Creative Enterprise Zones. Culture for All Londoners contains plans for a new summer campaign in the capital, Sounds Like London. The initiative will comprise gigs and events promoting London’s grassroots music venues and providing a platform for emerging talent and young women in the music industry, and will involve partners including Airbnb, BBC Music Introducing, Boiler Room, Fabric, and Music Venue Trust. The full program will be announced in May 2018. The consultation period on the Culture for All Londoners strategy is open until 19 June.”
