Kentucky’s Owensboro Symphony Orchestra will conclude its 2017-18 season on April 21 with “Cosmic Convergence,” a program that combines music from Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarathustra with images of the August 21, 2017 solar eclipse projected onscreen. Music Director Troy Quinn will conduct the concert, which also will feature the Largo from Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 (“New World”), John Williams’s “Across the Stars” from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Holst’s “Jupiter” from The Planets, and Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony. Also shown during the concert will be images of the solar system and footage from the PBS documentary The Farthest. Members of the orchestra will be outfitted with GoPro cameras during the concert, allowing the audience to view video of the concert from the vantage point of the string or brass section.
