The National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada has appointed ANNABELLE CLOUTIER as executive director of communications and public affairs, and corporate secretary, effective May 7. The National Arts Centre Orchestra is the center’s resident ensemble, and Alexander Shelley is the NAC Orchestra’s music director. Cloutier is currently the director of communications and public affairs with the Office of the Secretary to Canada’s Governor General. As head of communications for several governors general, Cloutier has overseen issues management, communications strategies, media relations, social media, marketing, and creative services. Prior to her government work, she worked with francophone film and television producers, and did advocacy for the arts and culture with la Fédération culturelle canadienne-française. Cloutier holds a law degree (LL.B.), and studied communications at the Université de Sherbrooke. Cloutier has worked with the NAC on numerous occasions through functions such as the annual Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards and last July’s Royal Visit to open the new NAC Atrium.
