KATHRYN GREENBANK has been named associate principal oboe at the Minnesota Orchestra, effective at the start of the 2018-19 season in September. Greenbank is currently principal oboe of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, a position she has held since 1982, and has been performing with the Minnesota Orchestra throughout the 2017-18 season as acting associate principal oboe. At the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Greenbank frequently performed as soloist and is featured on many of their recordings. She and the SPCO gave the world premiere performance of Jennifer Higdon’s Oboe Concerto, which was commissioned for her by the Minnesota Commissioning Club. Greenbank has performed as guest principal oboe with the Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Milwaukee and Baltimore symphony orchestras, played with multiple U.S. orchestras, and performed at many chamber music festivals. Greenbank served on the faculty of the University of Minnesota, has coached and led master classes for the New World Symphony, and maintains a private teaching studio. She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music.
