The Riverside Symphony in New York City will premiere Three Epigrams, Anthony Korf’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, on its June 6 concert at Alice Tully Hall, conducted by George Rothman and featuring violinist Jesse Mills. The concerto was commissioned by the Roger Shapiro Fund for New Music. Also on the program will be Sibelius’s Symphony No. 3 and Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 (“Unfinished”). Music Director George Rothman and composer Anthony Korf co-founded the Riverside Symphony in 1981. The orchestra performs three concerts annually in Manhattan and operates Music Memory, an education program for third-through sixth-grade New York City public-school students.
