Concert Artists Guild has appointed TANYA BANNISTER president, effective July 1, 2018. She will succeed Richard S. Weinert, who steps down after eighteen years at the organization. Founded in 1951, Concert Artists Guild (CAG) helps young classical musicians launch their careers with management support, concert bookings, commissions, recordings, publicity, and mentorship. A pianist, Bannister won CAG’s annual competition in 2003. In addition to performing, she has served as artistic director of Alpenkammermusik, an annual chamber music festival in Austria, and co-founded RoadMaps, a humanitarian and cultural venture. She has been a CAG board member since 2015 and has participated in numerous CAG events. Born in Hong Kong, Bannister hold degrees from the Royal Academy of Music in London, Yale University, and New York’s Mannes School of Music. She is an active figure in contemporary music and has premiered numerous works written for her, including three commissioned by CAG, and has released several CDs.
