“The Shreveport Symphony Orchestra will complete a packed 2017-18 season with three distinctly different May events, “writes Tiana Kennell in Thursday’s (5/3) Shreveport Times (Louisiana). “First up is a performance with violinist Philippe Quint [performing] the violin concerto composed by Erich Wolfgang Korngold…. SSO Music Director Michael Butterman will be the conductor” for a program including Brahms’s Symphony No. 4 and the Overture to Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus. “Sunday, May 6 [brings] a free family concert for young music enthusiasts, titled ‘Carnival of the Animals.’ The concert [will be preceded by] instrument demonstrations and craft booths. Food trucks will be on hand with meals and snacks for purchase.” At “Women Rock” on May 19 “Glenn Langdon will serve as the guest conductor with Cassidy Catanzaro, Katrina Dideriksen, and Shayna Steele as guest vocalists. ‘This is another classic rock evening at the Symphony featuring three incredible vocalists performing tunes from Aretha Franklin to Janis Joplin to Carol King and many more,’ ” said SSO Executive Director Lois Robinson.
