DENNIS KIM has been named concertmaster at the Pacific Symphony in Orange County, California, effective September 2018. During the 2017-18 season, Kim served as concertmaster for the orchestra’s concerts at SOKA University in Aliso Viejo, California. Kim is currently concertmaster of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in New York. A graduate of the Curtis Institute and the Yale School of Music, Kim became concertmaster of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra at age 22, and served as concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Seoul and Tampere (Finland) orchestras. Kim was born in Korea, raised in Canada, and educated in the United States. As guest concertmaster, Kim has performed with orchestras in Great Britain, Sweden, France, Australia, Qatar, and Malaysia, and has appeared widely as a soloist. Kim is on the faculty at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada’s PRISMA festival, and the Interlochen Center for the Arts.
