The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra has commissioned Sarah Gibson as the next composer in its Sound Investment program. During the 2018-19 season, her work will be premiered at LACO’s concerts on January 26 in Glendale and January 27 at Royce Hall in Los Angeles. Since the Sound Investment program began in 2001, featured composers have included Ellen Reid, Matthew Aucoin, Ted Hearne, Hannah Lash, Andrew Norman, Timo Andres, and Derek Bermel. The Los Angeles-based Gibson is co-founder of the new-music piano duo HOCKET and together with Artistic Director Andrew Norman is the lead-teaching artist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Composer Fellowship Program.
