CARLOS MIGUEL PRIETO has signed a contract extension as music director of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra through the 2021-22 season. He joined the orchestra as music director in 2006. Earlier this season, Prieto led the Louisiana Philharmonic in its Carnegie Hall debut. Also this season, Prieto made debuts leading the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. During his Los Angeles Philharmonic debut, Prieto led the LA Phil New Music Group in a program of world premieres by contemporary Mexican composers. In the 2017–18 season, Prieto guest conducted numerous international orchestras and continued as music director of the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Mexico, a role he has held since 2007, and with the Orchestra of the Americas, where he has been music director since 2011. In July, he will lead Carnegie Hall’s NYO2 initiative, a free program that brings together outstanding young American instrumentalists (ages 14-17) from across the country.
