“In what the organization describes as ‘an exciting expansion,’ the Music Academy of the West (MAW) has created the position of ‘director of innovation and program development,’ ” writes Nicholas Beard in Monday’s (6/25) MusicalAmerica.com (subscription required). Music Academy of the West is located in Santa Barbara, California. “First to fill it, as of August 20, will be Kevin Kwan Loucks, a professional pianist and chamber musician with experience in arts administration. According to MAW President and CEO Scott Reed, the new hire will ‘help us increase our programmatic offerings’ beyond the summer activities, as well as administrate MAW’s alumni awards programs. He’ll also oversee a community choral program, set to launch in fall, working in conjunction with artistic operations. Loucks, who trained at Juilliard and concertized often, is president of Chamber Music OC (Orange County), which he founded with his wife [Iryna Krechkovsky]. He holds a DMA from Stony Brook [University], where he was a teaching assistant, and an Executive MBA from Chapman University.”
