“The Louisville Orchestra’s performances of ‘Harry Potter in Concert,’ postponed due to the fire and recovery work at the Kentucky Center, will now take place in November,” write Rachek Aretakis and Darcy Costello in Tuesday’s (6/26) Louisville Courier Journal. A June 13 fire at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, home to the Louisville Orchestra and other groups, caused considerable damage; no injuries were reported. The Louisville Orchestra’s presentation of “ ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ was scheduled for July 7 and 8 … Instead, it will take place on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 … Ticketholders can use the same tickets for the corresponding performance in November … Officials said earlier this month that they’re still working to assess the extent of the fire and water damage in the building. The fire was contained to the roof but other parts of the building sustained water and smoke damage, according to William Landrum, the state’s finance and administration cabinet secretary. The dressing rooms, mechanical rooms, basement, offices, restrooms, control rooms, heating and air conditioning systems, and duct work lines were ‘drenched’ in water, he said.” The Louisville Orchestra will announce additional concerts once a timeline for the center’s re-opening is released.
