The Cleveland Orchestra will perform a free “Star-Spangled Spectacular” concert on July 6 at 9 p.m. at Mall B, a few blocks from Public Square in downtown Cleveland. The concert, led by Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, celebrates the orchestra’s 100th anniversary and will include classical repertoire, patriotic favorites, Tchaikovsky’s “1812” Overture, and a fireworks display. WKYC TV-3 on-air personality and news anchor Russ Mitchell will host the concert, which will be videostreamed live at clevelandorchestra.com and ideastream.org. The concert will also be broadcast live on radio stations 90.3 WCPN and WCLV Classical 104.9. Starting at 6 p.m., Mitchell’s—a northeast Ohio ice cream maker—will provide free samples of its homemade ice cream in honor of the orchestra’s 100th anniversary. The concert will be preceded by 7 p.m. performances by the Cleveland Police Pips & Drums and the Ohio National Guard’s 122nd Army Band. In case of rain, performances will be held at the Cleveland Public Auditorium, next to Mall B.
