To mark its tenth season in 2018-19, the Heartland Festival Orchestra in Peoria, Illinois is inviting central Illinois photographers to submit images for a multimedia program entitled “Heartland Portraits.” The April 13, 2019 concert will feature Music Director David Commanday leading segments of Steve Heitzeg’s Symphony to the Prairie Farm with photographic representations of life in central Illinois. Photos chosen from submissions will be programmed to move across three screens above the orchestra, synchronized to the music. The program is a collaboration with Westwater Arts, a company that creates “symphonic photochoreography” for ensembles that have included the Tucson, Phoenix, National, and Toronto symphony orchestras. The deadline to submit photos for “Heartland Portraits” is December 2; more information is available at heartfestivalorchestra.org
