In Columbia, Missouri, the Mizzou International Composers Festival will air its July 26, 27, and 28 concerts locally on Classical 90.5 FM radio and by digital livestream at muclassical.org. Concerts at the Missouri Theatre will feature the festival’s resident ensemble, Alarm Will Sound, on July 26; Mizzou New Music Ensemble, the flagship group of the Mizzou New Music Initiative, on July 27; and Alarm Will Sound at the final July 28 program with commissioned world premieres by Oren Boneh, Christine Burke, Viet Cuong, Amanda Feery, Douglas Osmun, Gemma Peacocke, and Igor Santos. Composers also featured at the festival include Robert Morris, Alex Mincek, Stefan Freund, Matt Marks, Chen Yi, Carolina Heredia, and Aaron Mencher. The Mizzou International Composers Festival, held this year from July 23 to 28, is part of the Mizzou New Music Initiative, an array of new-music and composition programs at the University of Missouri School of Music. Alan Pierson is artistic director and conductor of Alarm Will Sound.
