Violinist Noah Bendix-Balgley, first concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, will perform his own composition, Fidl-Fantazye: A Klezmer Concerto on July 27 at North Carolina’s Brevard Music Center Summer Festival. Bendix-Balgley, a native of Asheville, North Carolina and former Brevard Music Center faculty member, debuted the concerto in 2016 with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, led by Manfred Honeck. JoAnn Falletta will conduct the July 27 performance at Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium, which also will feature the festival orchestra in Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. Each year, approximately 500 students, age 14 to post-college, study and perform from June to August at the Music Center in the program, which is led by BMC Artistic Director and alumnus Keith Lockhart, principal conductor of the Boston Pops.
