The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra has appointed DAVID HYSLOP as interim executive director. He succeeds Executive Director Jennifer Boomgaarden, who has been named president and CEO of Nebraska’s Omaha Symphony. Hyslop will serve as interim executive director through the search for a permanent replacement. Hyslop’s career in arts management includes serving as the CEO for the Minnesota Orchestra (1991-2003), St. Louis Symphony (1978-1991), and the Oregon Symphony (1972-1978). Since 2004, he has worked as a consultant at many orchestras, advising in fundraising and strategic planning. Hyslop has served as interim CEO for the orchestras of Omaha, Dallas, Louisville, and for the Sun Valley Summer Symphony. Earlier in 2018, Hyslop acted as interim president and chief executive officer of the Omaha Symphony, until Boomgaarden’s appointment. Delta David Gier is music director of the South Dakota Symphony.
