A new report, Elevating the Influence of Arts and Culture: A Cleveland Playbook, documents how the arts and culture sector of Cuyahoga County went from fiscal emergency to securing one of the highest levels of public funding for arts and culture in the country. The book charts the ways that the county’s Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC) worked to direct tax money to arts and culture; rebuild or renovate arts facilities; increase government involvement in culture and the arts; and spark innovative cross-sector partnerships. By observing CPAC’s processes as outlined in the report, organizations and communities can see what worked in Northeast Ohio and what did not—and can adapt strategies to their own vision and current situation. CPAC states, “It is our hope that our story can provide other organizations with insight into how they might strengthen their own arts and culture sectors and thus their whole communities.” Read or download the playbook for free at https://cultureforward.org/Reference-Desk/Research-Library/About-the-Sector/Elevate. Print copies are available for $25.
