TENG LI has been named principal viola at the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She goes to Los Angeles from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, where she served as principal violist since 2004. In addition to solo appearances with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Li has performed with the Santa Rosa Symphony, Munich Chamber Orchestra, New Jersey’s Symphony in C, Shanghai Opera Orchestra, Canadian Sinfonietta, and Esprit Orchestra. Li is an active recitalist and chamber musician. She is a member of the Rosamunde Quartet (led by Noah Bendix-Balgley, concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic) and the Toronto-based Trio Arkel. Awards include the Astral Artistic Services 2003 National Auditions. Teng is a graduate of the Central Conservatory in Beijing, China, and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
