The Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale in Texas has appointed BEN FAIRFIELD co-principal trumpet. He joins the orchestra at the start of the 2018-19 season on September 8. He shares the co-principal trumpet position with Eric Baker, who joined the orchestra in 2006. Fairfield also serves as principal trumpet of the Abilene Philharmonic, is a member of the Lone Star Winds in Dallas, and performs nationwide. He holds a doctor of musical arts degree and a master of music degree in trumpet performance from the University of Miami Frost School of Music and a bachelor of music education degree from James Madison University in Virginia. Fairfield has taught trumpet at several universities. While in the U.S. Army, he was a member of the United States Continental Army Band at Ft. Monroe, Virginia. In March 2017, Fairfield and pianist Liana Pailodze Harron gave the New York City premiere of Michael Daugherty’s The Lightning Fields for trumpet and piano at the 92nd Street Y.
