“Macy’s latest ad campaign features a familiar face: Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director JoAnn Falletta,” writes Susan Martin in Wednesday’s (9/12) Buffalo News. “She is one of six inspiring women in the retailer’s new campaign, ‘Remarkable You.’ Featured along with Falletta are a public defender, an aerospace engineer, a civil engineer, a fourth-grade teacher, and an NBA assistant coach. It all started when Falletta’s manager got a call in New York City from Macy’s saying there were planning a campaign of women ‘paving the way for future generations.’ … Falletta agreed to do it and, in June, headed to Hollywood for a couple of days of filming. ‘It was the most glamorous two of three days I ever had in my life,’ Falletta said.… They also hired a live orchestra, including members of the orchestra she used to conduct in Long Beach, Calif. ‘That was the most heartwarming thing…,’ Falletta said. Falletta credits Macy’s for including classical music … in the campaign…. Macy’s also published a separate, brief interview with her, in which she shares this final piece of advice: ‘Do what you feel passionate about. Don’t settle for anything less than that.’ ”
