Minnesota’s Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra will offer the first of three free concert livestreams of the season on September 15, featuring Artistic Partner Thomas Zehetmair conducting the orchestra at Ordway Concert Hall. The program will feature Jean-Féry Rebel’s The Elements, Claude Vivier’s 1983 Zipangu (1983), Beethoven’s Romance No. 1, featuring SPCO violinist Eunice Kim as soloist, and Haydn’s Symphony No. 95. A 50-minute family concert on October 13 will feature Minnesota-based playwright Harrison David Rivers and music by composer Jessie Montgomery. On November 4, Artistic Partner Jonathan Cohen will conduct Bach’s St. John Passion. Concerts are streamed live, then added to the orchestra’s free on-demand Concert Library, launched in spring 2017. Since its launch, the library has added eight streamed performances, and the orchestra plans to live-stream seven to ten concerts per season. Users can access the Concert Library via web browsers and by using the free Concert Library app for iOS. Says SPCO Managing Director and President Jon Limbacher, “We are committed to sharing music with the broadest possible audience in the Twin Cities. The Concert Library will help us dramatically expand the number of people we are able to serve in our community.”
