South Carolina’s Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra announced a new four-year collective bargaining agreement with its musicians, effective July 1. The agreement includes an annual increase in each of the four years, as well as expanded opportunities in the orchestra’s community engagement activities. Mary Briggs, the orchestra’s president and CEO, said, “This contract represents a significant step in the growth of HHSO, positioning us for continued future growth.” John Morris Russell is music director of the orchestra, which in addition to performing concerts also sponsors the annual Youth Concerto Competition and Hilton Head International Piano Competition and operates “Music Bridges,” a program for elementary school students in the Beaufort School System.
