The Seattle Symphony has named NOAH GELLER as concertmaster and JAMES BENOIT as principal timpani.

Noah Geller goes to the Seattle Symphony from the Kansas City Symphony, where he was concertmaster since 2012. Prior to that, he held posts in the Philadelphia Orchestra as a member of the first violin section and later as acting assistant concertmaster. He attended the Juilliard School for his bachelor and master of music degrees, and has performed with many chamber and festival organizations around the U.S., including the Marlboro Music Festival, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Tanglewood Music Center, and the Olympic Music Festival in Washington.

James Benoit, a native of Niskayuna, New York, was previously the associate principal percussionist and assistant principal timpanist with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and spent three seasons as a section percussionist with the Sarasota Opera. He was on faculty at the University of Pittsburgh and at the Luzerne Music Center in New York. He has worked as a teaching and performing artist with Associate Solo Artists, a non-profit that provides artistic interdisciplinary programs for children, teachers, businesses, and social organizations. Benoit received an artist diploma from Duquesne University, a master of music degree from the Juilliard School, and a bachelor of music degree from the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

In addition, DANIEL STONE has joined the Seattle Symphony’s viola section.
