The Cleveland Orchestra’s new residency partnership with Baldwin Wallace University will launch on October 2 at the university’s annual Arts Innovation Summit, presented by Baldwin Wallace’s Center for Innovation and Growth, Arts Management and Entrepreneurship program, and Conservatory of Music. The summit is entitled “Facing the Music: Challenges of Today’s Orchestras,” and will feature a discussion of how the Cleveland Orchestra and other orchestras are responding to current challenges. The summit is free and open to the public. Also planned are a student composition workshop and new music reading on October 10, led by a string quartet of Cleveland Orchestra musicians; a conversation on November 7 featuring Cleveland Orchestra Assistant Conductor Vinay Parameswaran and Dr. Soo Han, Baldwin Wallace University’s director of orchestral studies; a Cleveland Orchestra concert at the university on January 16; and an all-school Convocation Conversation on January 17 entitled “Making the Magic Happen: Behind the Scenes with the Cleveland Orchestra,” featuring members of the Cleveland Orchestra staff. Throughout the residency, Cleveland Orchestra musicians will participate in masterclasses.
