PIOTR GAJEWSKI’s contract as music director and conductor of the National Philharmonic has been extended through the 2024-25 season. Based at the Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland, the National Philharmonic performs in Montgomery County and the greater Washington, DC area. Gajewski founded the National Philharmonic as the Montgomery Chamber Orchestra in 1984. Apart from his work with the National Philharmonic, Gajewski is principal guest conductor at the Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice in his native Poland, and a frequent guest conductor with other ensembles. In addition to concerts and community engagement activities, the National Philharmonic offers education programs such as the Summer Strings and Choral Institutes.
