Cape Symphony and Conservatory in Hyannis, Massachusetts, has appointed KYLE SPRAKER as director of community outreach and education. Spraker is principal trumpet for the Cape Symphony and a teaching artist for brass and woodwinds at Cape Conservatory and Nantucket Music Center. As director of education and outreach, Spraker will coordinate all Cape Symphony educational concerts and will oversee the Cape Symphony and Conservatory’s annual Music Memory event, which tests Cape Cod students on their ability to identify a musical work’s composer and title. Before studying trumpet performance at New England Conservatory, Spraker earned a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach. Spraker has performed and taught in the United States, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central and South America. He serves on faculty at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA, where he teaches a graduate-level course on the importance of community engagement with artistic experiences. Spraker’s brass quintet, Redline Brass, has designed interactive concerts and educational programs that have been presented in underserved schools, detention centers, homeless shelters, and concert halls throughout Boston and New England.
