The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra is accepting new orchestra scores for its 2018-19 Young Composers Competition. The winning composition will be premiered by the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra on June 2, 2019, at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Composers born between September 1, 1994 and September 1, 2000 may apply. The winning composition will be selected by the orchestra’s music director, Louis Scaglione, and the director of the Young Composers Competition, Sheridan Seyfried, who is a Philadelphia Youth Orchestra alumnus. The winning composer will receive a $1,000 prize, be coached and mentored by Seyfried, attend orchestra rehearsals, and receive a professional recording of the work following the concert. Second and third prizes will receive cash awards of $1,000 and $500 each. The deadline to submit scores is November 15, 2018. Click here for more information.
