A video of the “Reflecting Our Communities Through Music” panel at the League of American Orchestras’ 2019 Conference highlights the creative initiatives that orchestras are using to reach wide swaths of community members. Moderated by League President and CEO Jesse Rosen, the discussion brings forward concrete examples of the meaningful work orchestras are doing in and out of the concert hall, from panelists Lorenzo Candelaria, dean of the School of the Arts at Purchase College and former associate provost at the University of Texas at El Paso; Mei-Ann Chen, music director of Chicago Sinfonietta; and Isaac Thompson, vice president for artistic planning at the New York Philharmonic.
