GIORGIA GHIZZONI has been appointed executive director of Colorado’s Longmont Symphony Orchestra, effective January 7, 2019. She will succeed Kay Lloyd, who is retiring after twelve years as executive director; Lloyd will continue to perform in the orchestra and is the orchestra librarian. Ghizzoni received a bachelor’s degree in cello performance and a bachelor’s degree in economics and business from LUISS Guido Carli in Rome and the Utrecht School of Economics in the Netherlands. A native of Italy, she has lived and worked across Europe and the U.S. During her master’s degree studies in arts management at the Sibelius Academy (Helsinki, Finland), she worked at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute and at Alliance Artist Management in NYC. Her company ExClaM! (Experience Classical Music!) focused on expanding musicians’ creative thinking to present multi‐sensory interdisciplinary performances. Over the past five years in California, Ghizzoni has been active as an artist developer, supporting performing artists in reaching and sustaining peak performance. The Longmont Symphony presents a six‐concert subscription series, family and children’s concerts, and education and outreach programs. Elliot Moore is the orchestra’s music director.
