In March and April of 2019, the Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Möst will travel to Asia, where they perform in the cities of Taipei, Macao, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, and Beijing. The seven-city tour will represent the orchestra’s first performances in Macao, Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Nanjing, and return performances in Taipei, Shanghai, and Beijing. The tour will begin on March 28 at Taipei’s Chiang Kai-shek Memorial, National Concert Hall, with performances of Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 with soloist Daniil Trifonov. The final concert on the tour, April 13 at Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts, will feature Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 3 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.
