ALEXANDRA WHEELER has been appointed vice president and chief advancement officer of the Juilliard School in New York City. She will serve as a member of the leadership team and work with Juilliard’s board of trustees, guiding the school’s philanthropy and membership programs and alumni relations. Wheeler goes to Juilliard with more than 25 years of experience in fund-raising and nonprofit arts management, including two tenures at the Whitney Museum of American Art, where she was most recently deputy director and chief advancement officer. At the Whitney, she led the successful completion of an eight-year, $670 million capital campaign. Prior to that, she held roles at Cambridge in America, Exit Art, the Fund for Dance, and the Joffrey Ballet. Wheeler holds a bachelor of arts from Brown University. Wheeler succeeds vice president of development ELIZABETH HURLEY, who left Juilliard to become chief development officer at Lyric Opera of Chicago in March 2018; KATIE MURTHA, who has been acting director, will continue to serve as director of major gifts.
