California’s Santa Rosa Symphony reports that it ended its 2017-18 fiscal year in the black for the fifteenth consecutive year. Donations totaled more than $2 million, an all-time high for the orchestra; the endowment fund value exceeded $13 million for the first time; and the orchestra’s free November 2017 fire-relief benefit concert at Green Music Center in Sonoma County raised $115,000, with all artists, conductors, and staff donating their time. The orchestra also offered free classical series tickets to fire survivors and first responders for the remainder of the season; and instruments damaged or destroyed in fires were replaced. Alan Silow is the Santa Rosa Symphony’s president and CEO, and Francesco Lecce-Chong is music director.
