The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will open its 2019-20 Masterworks season in September with Haydn’s Creation, led by Music Director Neal Gittleman and performed with the Dayton Opera and Dayton Ballet, its two partners in the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance. The three groups will also perform together on December 31 for the DPAA’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration. Also planned during the season, Gittleman’s 25th year leading the Dayton Philharmonic, are a Beethoven symphony cycle beginning in the 2019–20 season and continuing into the 2020–21 season, and works by Romantic Era composers influenced by Beethoven. Jessica Hung, the DPO’s concertmaster, will curate two DPO chamber programs at the Dayton Art Institute, and the orchestra’s “Rockin’ Orchestra” series featuring guest bands together with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will include “A Night of Symphonic Hip Hop” with Wyclef Jean, founding member of The Fugees.
