“Friday was Stephen Marc Beaudoin’s last day as the Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s executive director,” writes Tamela Baker in Saturday’s (1/26) Herald-Mail (Hagerstown, MD). “He announced his resignation last month, and will begin his new job as executive director of the Washington Chorus on Feb. 4. Beaudoin has been with MSO since September 2017, when he replaced Michael Jonnes as executive director…. MSO’s board of directors announced Friday that former Executive Director Andrew Kipe is serving as interim executive director as the board seeks a permanent replacement. Kipe, a Hagerstown native, currently is director of concert and ensemble operations at the Peabody Institute, a division of The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Kipe was MSO’s executive director from June 2006 to December 2010.” In a press announcement, the Maryland Symphony states that after Kipe “completed his 4 1/2-year tenure as the Executive Director of the MSO, he went to the Phoenix Orchestra, where he was the general manager responsible for all aspects of the operations, education, and artistic planning. From Phoenix he was hired by the Louisville Symphony [as executive director] … doubling ticket sales within four years and significantly increasing community and corporate support.”
