New York City-based classical music station WQXR has announced the appointment of JACQUI CHENG to the newly created position of editor-in-chief, music. Cheng will develop and execute editorial and digital content strategies to expand WQXR’s reach. She will lead a team of digital producers, editors, and writers; define editorial style and standards; and develop stories championing the role of classical music in contemporary culture. She will partner with the station’s programming, digital product, and design teams to ensure consistency on air and online across websites, apps, and social platforms. Most recently, Cheng served as editor-in-chief of Wirecutter, an independent product-review site that was acquired by The New York Times in 2016. Prior to Wirecutter, Cheng was editor-at-large at Ars Technica, which became a Condé Nast brand in 2008. She has played the violin for more than three decades and currently performs with the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra in New York City.
