Connecticut’s Stamford Symphony, the Greenwich Choral Society, and vocal soloists will perform a concert version of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess on February 9 and 10 at the Palace Theatre in Stamford. Guest conductor Lucas Richman will lead the performances, featuring soprano Donita Volkwijn and baritone John Fulton. Also on the program, entitled “A Night at the Opera: From Italy to Catfish Row,” will be selections from Italian operas, including the Overture to Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Puccini’s Humming Chorus from Madama Butterfly, Verdi’s Triumphal March from Aida, “Come Paride vezzoso” (Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore), “Ebben? Ne andrò lontana” (Catalani’s La Wally); and “Silvio! A quest’ ora” (Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci).
