“The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra will soon launch a search for a new executive director after the departure of Peter Gistelinck,” writes Emily Monacelli in Tuesday’s (2/12) MLive.com (Michigan). “Gistelinck, president and CEO of the organization since 2014, has left and the orchestra’s board of directors plans to name an interim executive director by the end of February, KSO officials said in an announcement. The organization did not state Gistelinck’s reason for departure. KSO plans to launch a search for a permanent executive director. ‘During Peter’s tenure, the board instituted a multi-year strategic plan that continues to serve as our road map and puts us in a strong position to continue our long history in this community,’ Steven Kreider, KSO board chair, said in a statement. ‘The board looks forward to meeting with qualified executive director candidates.’… Before coming to Kalamazoo, Gistelinck served as the executive director of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, a post he started in 2006. He took over for Jennifer Barlament, who became the general manager of the Cleveland Orchestra. His appointment [at the Kalamazoo Symphony] was unanimous after a six-month, nationwide search.”
