“After 25 years as the conductor of the Bozeman Symphony, Music Director Matthew Savery resigned Thursday amid an investigation into his conduct,” reports Rachel Hergett in Friday’s (2/15) Bozeman Daily Chronicle (MT). “A release from Great Falls law firm Ugrin Alexander Zadick, P.C. confirmed the resignation on Friday. ‘Matthew expresses his gratitude for and appreciation to the symphony for the opportunity to serve and is grateful for his time with the exceptional musicians who have made the symphony a success,’ the release stated. Savery started at the Bozeman Symphony in 1994 and was also the conductor of the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra from 2008 to 2018…. Allegations against Savery were revealed at the beginning of February after a group of 14 donors, musicians and former staff of the symphony implored the board to launch an investigation into his conduct. Their written testimony included accounts of bullying and verbal harassment.… Savery denied the allegations…. The third-party inquiry will continue.… The board also announced an upcoming search for a new music director.… The executive director position also remains open on the symphony’s website…. The symphony announced Elliott Moore, music director of the Longmont Symphony Orchestra in Longmont, Colorado, will conduct performances on March 2 and 3.”
