The Harlem Globetrotters and the Philly Pops have released a short video they made together just before the Pops’ “Uptown Nights” March 1-3 concerts celebrating the swing music of Harlem’s heyday. The Pops’ performances take place the same weekend that the Harlem Globetrotters’ games in Philadelphia. The video features the Philly Pops performing the Globetrotters’ theme song, “Sweet Georgia Brown,” as well as a routine by Globetrotters stars Zeus McClurkin, Hoops Green, and Philadelphia native Speedy Artis. They are accompanied by multiple Pops musicians, as well as tap dancer Leo Manzari, who will perform in this weekend’s concerts. The “Uptown Nights” program will feature music performed at Harlem’s Cotton Club and the Savoy by Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, and Ethel Waters.
